MOVA Selected for first Dominion Energy Innovation Center Accelerator
August 6th, 2020 - MOVA has been selected for the first-ever Dominion Energy Innovation Center Accelerator Program. The 10-week program starts in September and will provide mentoring and education from the innovation center’s partner network, led by Dominion Energy.
FILTRATION SEPARATION: MOVA completes successful pollutant capture tests
Through research at Virginia Tech, the company tested its Panel Bed Filtration System’s ability to remove particulate matter and other pollutants from the air for applications including agriculture, fossil fuel energy production, shipping, and direct air capture. MOVA will now seek commercial partners to pilot test the technology.

MOVA Technologies Inc. recently completed its proof-of-concept testing of gaseous pollutants through the advanced propulsion and power lab at Virginia Tech, company officials announced Monday during a conference call.
This successful completion will allow the company to proceed with pilot projects for its panel bed filtration systems to remove air pollutants for commercial and industrial applications, including agriculture and fossil fuel energy production — like coal-fired power plants. The technology potentially has global applications.

But a newly formed organization, the Southwest Virginia Energy Research and Development Authority, is aiming to reshape the region’s energy economy using entrepreneurship and innovation. Formed by the action of the Virginia General Assembly in 2019, the authority named Mike Quillen, former CEO of Alpha Natural Resources as its first chairman. “This authority is going to think outside the box on energy projects that bring together innovative research, workforce development, and economic development under one umbrella,” Quillen said. “Our team is going to think creatively and strategically on how to pair renewable energy with job-creating projects.”
